Louisiana Literature

Louisiana Literature is interviews, readings, discussions, performance, dance and music on the theme of literature. It takes place throughout the entire museum - both inside and outside. The written and spoken word will flourish in the midst of Louisiana's paintings and other artwork.

Louisiana's third annual literature festival will be held from Thursday, 23 August, to Sunday, 26 August 2012. Like the previous festivals, Louisiana Literature 2012 will fill the museum with both well-known and new voices, acknowledged talents and fresh newcomers. With incisive words, serious observations and irreverent laughter. With readings, surprises and musical interludes. And with plenty of cheerful, attentive, enthusiastic guests. We will announce the authors participating in this year's festival later in the year. You can also follow the developments in the festival on our Facebook page.

A tradition for literature
Ever since the opening year in 1958 literature has played a special and vital role at Louisiana. Throughout the years the museum has welcomed writers and literary events on the same scale as other art forms such as music and architecture. Nordic poetry days have been held at Louisiana, which in the 1980's became a free meeting forum for dissident writers from Eastern Europe. In 1992 Louisiana also saw the first public appearance by Salman Rushdie following his fatwa and subsequent many years of living undercover.
