LOUISIANA CONTEMPORARY: AI WEIWEI 18 November 2011 - 12 February 2012 Showing three large, striking works by the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei: Forever, 2003, Fountain of Light, 2007 and Trees, 2009-2010, as well as a number of films. Ai Weiwei was recently ranked as the most influential artist in the world by the magazine ArtReview. Read more »

LOUISIANA ON PAPER: VIJA CELMINS 8 September 2011 - 8 January 2012 Vija Celmins, the third artist in the exhibition series Louisiana on paper, is an example of how work on paper can be a core area for an artist. In an extremely realistic technique the artist reorganizes and imitates black-and-white photographs, usually executed in grisaille, grey shades, which form patterns of light and shade. Read more »
LIVING: FRONTIERS OF ARCHITECTURE III-IV 1 June - 23 October 2011 Inspiring, surprising and thought-provoking. Louisiana's large-scale summer exhibition 2011 was full of impressions and insights into the multiple ways we live in the world today. DAVID HOCKNEY: ME DRAW ON iPAD 8 April - 4 September 2011 David Hockney’s discovery of the inexpensive drawing application called Brushes for iPhones and iPads opened up a different world for the English artist. Hockney has created more than 400 drawings, first on his iPhone, and later on his iPad. The Louisiana’s installation included several hundred of the works displayed on 20 iTouches; 20 iPads; a triptych slide show and several projections. Read more »
JOSEF ALBERS: LOUISIANA ON PAPER 1 July - 28 August 2011 This summer presentation of works on paper by Josef Albers featured material, that to a great extent has not been on public view before. LOUISIANA ON PAPER: AL TAYLOR 2 March - 15 June 2011 Louisiana – on paper is a new series of minor exhibitions at Louisiana, to be shown in the course of 2011. The exhibitions focus on prints and drawings, and the first artist in the series is the American Al Taylor (1948-1999). The museum already owns a number of his photogravure prints. Read more »
PICASSO PEACE & FREEDOM 11. February - 29 May 2011 Louisiana’s spring exhibition 2011 added new aspects to our insight into the perhaps greatest 20th-century artist and to what drove him personally. A selection of works dating from 1944 to his death in 1973 drew a rich and varied picture of the socially conscious, politically committed and peace-loving Picasso. Read more »

WALTON FORD - Louisiana Contemporary 12 November 2010 – 6 March 2011 This was the first presentation in Scandinavia of american artist Walton Ford, whose large-scale watercolours are (melo)dramatic, powerful, and wonderous depictions of the way human civlisation and our imagination has perceived and treated the animal world. ANSELM KIEFER 10 September 2010 – 9 January 2011 A powerful and gripping presentation of one of the world's most prominent living classic artists. SOPHIE CALLE – Louisiana Contemporary 23 June – 24 October 2010 Louisiana presented a number of central works by one of France's most famed contemporary artists, including the monumental Take Care of Yourself, which was one of the highlights of the Venice Biennale in 2007. Read more »
WARHOL AFTER MUNCH 4 June – 12 September 2010 Louisiana welcomed guests to a rare presentation of Warhol’s “Munch pictures” shown together with several of Munch's original prints – constituting a unique museum experience and encounter between two great artists. Read more »
COLOUR in ART 5 January – 13 June 2010 With a cornucopia of works – from Matisse, Van Gogh and Derain to Richter, Sam Francis, Yves Klein and Kusama – this exhibition presented the story of the role and significance of colour to artists and to the development of modern art. Colour as means, end and miracle made COLOUR IN ART a delightful journey of discovery, from the Impressionism of the 1880s up to the present. Read more »
Pipilotti Rist – Homo sapiens sapiens 7 January – 25 April 2010 Sensual, vivid and technicoloured visions of Paradise soared above museum guests lying on the floor of Louisiana's Hall Gallery.
