Children's Wing

Louisiana Children's Wing offers a range of enriching activities for children and adults to explore together. These include activities free of charge for families with children plus drop-ins and special activities on weekends and on school holidays.

The three-storey building features 500 square metres of child-friendly space.

Activities in the Children’s Wing use Louisiana’s permanent collection and changing exhibits as reference point for a variety of open studios and classes, and workshops.
A discovery tour in the Museum galleries with families and/or a trained member of the staff, observing and discussing what they see, encourages children and young people to learn about art and explore their own creativity.

The Architecture: The organic, functional rooms of the Children’s Wing were designed by the architect Claus Wohlert keeping in mind children’s active engagement with modern art. There are no sharp divisions or thresholds here. The natural layout of the rooms encourages movement, curiosity, and hands-on exploration of the materials and techniques of art.

The Children’s Wing at Louisiana opened in September 1994, making it possible for the Museum to further develop its art-educational activities for children and young people.
