Edition: Sophie Calle

Sophie Calle (born 1953) typically uses herself as the starting point for the stories told in her works – often driven by extreme curiosity and an insistence on pursuing her own ideas as well as trailing other people. This is also true of a work recently shown at Louisiana, Take Care of Yourself (Prenez soin de vous), one of the highpoints of the 2007 Venice Biennale. For this moving love story, Calle asked different women to interpret a farewell email that the artist had received from her boyfriend. Calle’s still photo, showing a ballet dancer’s reaction to her letter, is directly linked to Take Care of Yourself.
